My natural skincare routine for glowing and healthy skin, using non-toxic and gentle skincare products! Simple, budget friendly natural skincare routine for morning and nigh time that actually works!
I’ve said it before, and you'll hear my say it again! But I wouldn't keep sharing this message if I didn't think that there are still people out there that need to hear it. Conventional products (be it skincare, personal care, cleaning etc) are loaded with toxins and endocrine disruptors!
When we talk about it balancing your hormones for a pain free + healthy cycle, an important step is examining your personal care products and ditching the toxins for natural alternatives. Every little change helps! If you’re just starting your journey with balancing your hormones, this is a great place to start! Check out my blog post on 5 Natural Household Switches for a rundown of the top chemicals to look out for and most toxic products to ditch & switch now.
These are a few of my favourite natural products that I have been using and loving lately. A few are newer to me in the last 3 months, but I have already fallen in love with them! This routine works for me, but find the products you love & work best for you! Here’s my morning and night time skincare routine.
My Morning Skincare Routine
Tone
In the mornings I like to keep it really simple! Recently I've been using this Hydrating Nutrient Mist from Mad Hippie as my toner. Not only does it smell amazing (seriously so good) but I've also noticed that it leaves my skin feeling so soft. This toner includes ingredients such as white tea, green tea, hyaluronic acid, pomegranate seed, ginkgo extract, along with other antioxidants and hydrating botanicals! If you'd like to try this, you can use the code: THANKS15 for 15% off your order at sitkanaturals.ca (a Canadian natural beauty site based out of Vancouver). Enjoy!
Vitamin C Serum
This Vitamin C serum came highly recommended from a few people! This one from Mad Hippie has Vitamin C + hyaluronic acid, aloe, chamomile and other natural ingredients. I’ve been using it for a few months now and it’s absolutely life changing. Vitamin C stimulates your skin’s production of collagen and elastin, and brightens skin tone. Again, for any Mad Hippie products use the code THANKS15 for 15% off your order at sitkanaturals.ca

My Night Time Skincare Routine
Cleanse
Have you ever tried oil cleansing?! This ancient Ayurvedic practice works well for both oily and dry skin types. But you may be wondering, why cleanse with oil? It may seem counterintuitive, but oil cleansing is actually more effective and hydrating than using water to cleanse your skin. Cleansing with water tends to make dry skin even dryer, and oily skin more oily!
Remember the principle in chemistry class - like dissolves like? Using an oil to cleanse your skin will attract any excess oil that you skin is producing. The top layer of your skin is exclusively oil based, so you can see how trying to cleanse with water based cleansers would not be effective!
Oil cleansing on the other hand, can help draw out impurities and unclog pores! It also effectively pull away dirt and makeup, resulting in clean, soft and hydrated skin. To read more about oil cleansing, head over to Honesty For Your Skin - Cheryl is a Skincare Scientist and Expert, and this blog post on Why The Oil Cleansing Method Is Your Skin's BFF will break it all down for you. Including info on which kind of oil cleanser to choose based on your skin type!
I like to either make my own oil cleanser using a base of jojoba oil (get my recipe here) or this Mirah Cleansing Oil is a pre-mixed blend that also works well for me.
Double Cleanse
If I've worn makeup, or if I'm just going all out with my skincare routine, I will double cleanse. After reading about the benefits of colloidal oatmeal, I decided to try this Lavender Oat Milk Soothing Cleanser from 100% Pure. It’s a powder, and you just add water to about ¼ teaspoon and rub your hands together to activate it. It is super gentle, moisturizing and softening. It contains coconut milk, colloidal oatmeal, rose, lavender, calendula, chamomile and more soothing ingredients. I just started using this 3 months ago but I love it, and I also have to say it lasts forever. Since it's a powder, a little goes a long way.
Oatmeal has a special ingredient in it called beta-glucan. What this special something does is work with your skin to ‘activate’ your skins immune system, it basically triggers skin to start being healthier. Personally I think this is absolutely amazing and super skin friendly. I mean, it gets your natural skin biology acting better. It helps skin remember what to do and exactly how to repair.

Glow Superfood Serum
This oil serum with avocado oil, reishi, honeysuckle, grapefruit, frankincense + other natural ingredients goes on really light and is so pure you can eat it! I like to use my jade facial roller after applying to roll away any tension and stress. You can use the code: NOURISHMINT for 15% off your order at Four Sigmatic if you'd like to try this! I've been using Four Sigmatic products for a long time - their mushroom elixirs and reishi hot cacao are also some of my favourites.
Triple C Night Cream
This triple c night cream has become a staple in my night time skincare routine, and I think it's perfect for winter time as well. It is deeply hydrating, and packed with 3 forms of vitamin C, potent antioxidants & adaptogens. This cream does not leave your skin feeling greasy, in fact it's quite light and feels very hydrating. It also includes reishi extract, cloudberry, turmeric extract, and chaga.

Other faves:
• This dry brush from @shopwith.gb helps to promote circulation, detoxification, + removes dead skin cells for glowing skin. I like to dry brush every day before my shower!
• My fave natural deo is by Routine Cream Deodorant. It’s 100% pure and works so well!
• For makeup, I love Savvy Minerals! It's 100% plant and mineral based, and non-toxic. Read about The Best Natural + Non-Toxic Makeup here!
