Healthy Pumpkin Oat Pancakes 🥞 ...The real que Healthy Pumpkin Oat Pancakes 🥞

...The real question is: do you drizzle maple syrup on top of your pancakes, or dip each bite into the syrup?!

Maybe this is just me, but ever since I was little, I’ve preferred to have a little ramekin of maple syrup on the side for pancake-dipping! This way my pancakes don’t get too drenched in maple syrup, soggy, and too sweet for my liking. Trust me - you have to try it!

Visit the website link in my bio to get the recipe for these Healthy Pumpkin Oat Pancakes that just hit the blog today! They are so simple and delicious, and I definitely think you should make them for breakfast ASAP, and enjoy with a coffee or tea! ☺️🥞

And yes... last week was iced-coffee weather, but this week we’re back cooler (rainy) weather! 🌧 Hey, I’m not complaining - rainy weather makes for perfect study weather, and I’m so glad to see things starting to turn green outside! 🌱
I can’t wait to plant some little seedling and get my garden growing this year!

A few months ago, I did a big pantry re-organizati A few months ago, I did a big pantry re-organization and clean up! Anyone else have a pantry or kitchen cupboards filled with in-labelled spices and random dry ingredients in bags??

That was totally ME! Not only was it making me feel un-inspired, but it was also just very disorganized, making it hard to find ingredients and know what was in there. I decided it was the perfect stay-at-home activity, so I set to work and did a total overhaul. A few things I did that helped me get organized:

• First I a list of my favourite and most-used ingredients that I keep on hand all the time
• Then, I made a list of my spices + any spices I wanted to add to my collection
• Collected some large glass jars & glass spice jars to transfer everything into
• Ordered labels and jars from @zahrasplace.co - a local Etsy shop out of Toronto! Zahra’s pretty labels make my life so much easier (as opposed to the un-labelled bags I had before)! 😭

Swipe >> to see my pretty spice collection as well! I hope this inspires you, I just wanted to share because I love seeing other people’s pantry make-overs. If you need a stay-at-home spring cleaning activity, get yourself some jars and labels, you won’t regret it! ☺️

The BEST Cultured Cashew & Coconut Cheese 🧀 Dai The BEST Cultured Cashew & Coconut Cheese 🧀 Dairy-Free!

I honestly can’t believe that I now culture my own cashew cheese, in between making sourdough bread and everything else I cook from scratch! 😆The next thing you know I’ll be making my own dairy-free yogurt… which actually sounds delicious and I want to try! 😍

To be honest, I love cheese – like the real deal, made with dairy. BUT when I started to notice that it was not sitting well with my stomach and causing me a lot of bloating, I knew that I’d have to find an alternative that was just as yummy.

This Cultured Cashew Coconut Cheese is the result, and I can’t get enough of these two delicious spreads! It’s incredibly delicious, and makes the best snack on some crackers, a fresh slice of sourdough, or spread onto a delicious sandwich. I can’t wait for you to try!

Food for thought 💭 🌱 🌎 ⁣ The past year Food for thought 💭 🌱 🌎
⁣
The past year has taken a toll on many small businesses, while further propelling the success of retail giants such as Amazon. In fact 2020 was a record-braking year for Amazon – propelling them to triple profits and increase earnings by 37%. Meanwhile, the CFIB estimates that 1 in 7 small businesses are at risk of permanently closing due to COVID-19.
⁣
It is clear that we need to support local, eco-friendly and ethical businesses now more than ever, in order to have a green recovery from this pandemic.
⁣
Amazon may be convenient, and easy… but do we have to choose easy over ethical? Worker exploitation, tax dodging, invasion of customer privacy, and general encouragement of overconsumption are just a few things that come to mind. As always, I believe we can vote with our dollar and where you choose to spend it. So why not support eco-friendly, ethical, and local businesses that are currently struggling due to the global pandemic, rather than throwing more money at the wealthiest man in the world?
⁣
I’d much rather support small businesses that have a positive impact on their employees and the planet, than to support Amazon and other large retailers! I’ve rounded up a directory of small businesses in Canada 🇨🇦 that you can shop online as alternatives to Amazon.
⁣
Tap the link in my bio 👆🏼to see the full blog post! Be sure to leave a comment below if you have a favourite small Canadian business that you think should be added to the list so we can boycott Amazon together! 🌱☺️

The secret to a delicious salad is l in the dressing! I'm willing to bet that you WANT to eat healthy and enjoy salads, but they just take too much time & effort. Store bought salad dressings are tempting because they are convenient…but have you ever read the ingredients? 😬
⁣
Soybean oil, canola oil, sugar in the form of high fructose corn syrup, and sodium-rich preservatives are all common unhealthy ingredients that are lurking in store-bought dressings. In other words, a sure-fire way to reduce the health benefits of eating a salad in the first place.
⁣
I want to help you to take your salads to the next level, with 4 easy, healthy and delicious salad dressings that you can easily meal prep ahead of time! Tap the link in my bio to download my free guide which includes all my favourite dressings - right away. 😊 Enjoy!

5 things I’ve learned in 5 years of blogging… 5 things I’ve learned in 5 years of blogging… 🤯 ✨
⁣
I started my blog in January of 2016! I was living with my parents after university & feeling a little lost about what I wanted to do! I went to school for Wildlife Biology - and loved it, but I felt called to do something more creative. I started to get really interested in holistic health & nutrition, and decided to pursue a diploma in Holistic Nutrition! This is what started me down this path… I was learning so much, and I figured that what I was learning could help others as well. I started my blog (originally called Wild Green Life), and began writing about food and essential oils. I was super excited, but also terrified to tell anyone at first. What would people think?!
⁣
The hardest thing about creative work that you’ve poured your heart & soul into... is sharing with others. 🤯 But the risk is worth the reward! There’s nothing like the feeling of helping and serving others. Even if you just put a smile on one person’s face, or made a post that helped 1 person. That’s my motto - and what keeps me going everyday.
⁣
I’ll be celebrating 5 years of blogging and posting here on Instagram, so in honor of that I wanted to share a little bit about what I’ve learned. If you have ALWAYS wanted to start a side hustle & need a little encouragement... keep reading!

1. There is no perfect time to start, other than NOW! I bet you can think of 1,000 little reasons why NOT to start that side hustle, blog, Instagram etc…. that you’ve been wanting to start for years. As humans, our brains seem to specialize in finding the negative side. BUT I promise there is no other better time to start than now. If you don’t have the perfect photo, the best camera, or a huge budget to invest… don’t worry! You will get there, but only by building your skills through experience. The only way to do that is to start now, and get better as you go!

Taking a break from Christmas cookies 🍪 (delici Taking a break from Christmas cookies 🍪 (delicious as they are) to re-fuel with this antioxidant rich Wild Blueberry Smoothie!
⁣
Here’s what I put in it (approximate amounts - save this for later!)
⁣
• 1/2 frozen banana
• 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
• 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
• 1 tbsp tahini
• 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
• 1/2 tsp grated ginger (I keep it in the freezer & grate in frozen, works so well)!
• 1 scoop @gardenoflifecanada raw organic vanilla protein powder
• water

Blend on high and enjoy! You can also swap blueberries out for fresh spinach for a delicious green smoothie which I’ve also been enjoying lately!
⁣
Anyone else just feel like they need some fruit & veg in between all the Christmas foods? Don’t get me wrong, I love ALL the food around Christmas time, but whenever I have a chance to sneak a smoothie in, my digestion thanks me for the break. 🙌🏼 ☺️
