Support for Every System In The Body

Essential oils have the power to support and balance our endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, and reproductive systems. When we use essential oils consistently, we can work on promoting wellness rather than just managing sickness – all while avoiding the nasty side effects of synthetic drugs.

In this post you will find recipes for 5 of my favourite roller bottle blends to help with headache relief, respiratory support, sleep, emotional support, and healthy skin!

Blending Essential Oils

The blends in this post are based on a 10 ml roller bottle. The best way to blend oils is to fill the roller bottle 1/2 way with fractionated coconut oil (or your choice of carrier oil – sweet almond oil is also nice). Then add the essential oils. After the essential oils are added, fill the remaining space with your carrier oil, and shake to blend. Simple as that!

1. Headache Melt

This is a blend I NEVER leave behind. Young Living lavender and marjoram are both classified as natural health products in Canada to help relieve headaches. Peppermint is very cooling on the skin, and copaiba helps magnify the effects of the other oils in this blend. Helichrysum can act as a nervine and calmative which enhances relaxation.

Headache Melt:
+ 15 drops peppermint
+ 15 drops lavender
+ 10 drops marjoram
+ 2 drops copaiba
+ 2 drops helichrysum

2. Breathe Blend

This is great year round – for coughs and colds in the winter, and seasonal congestion in spring and fall. You will never find me without my breathe roll-on! This blend converted me into an essential oil-lover last year, and I can’t imagine what I would do without it! Today I am home from work with a cold, and I have been rolling this on my chest, neck, and wrists all day long! It works wonders.

Breathe Blend
+ 15 drops eucalyptus
+ 10 drops peppermint
+ 5 drops myrtle
+ 3 drops lemon
+ 5 drops laurus nobilis

3. Liquid Sleep

This blend is truly well named. Vetiver adds deep, woodsy notes to this calming and grounding blend. Lavender and cedarwood are both very well known for their calming properties – both act as a nervine and calmative on there nervous system. Frankincense is commonly used in meditation and yoga practices and is very soothing + grounding. Vetiver is a good oil to help balance the root chakra. Roll this blend on your chest, wrists, neck and feet before bed for a good night’s sleep!

Liquid Sleep
+ 2 drops vetiver
+ 15 drops lavender
+ 10 drops cedarwood
+ 5 drops frankincense

4. Skin Soothe

Witch hazel has always been a staple in our home. This skin soothe blend takes witch hazel, and makes it even more soothing to the skin with a blend of the best essential oils for healing any skin discomforts! Works great as a facial toner.

Skin Soothe
+ 10 drops lavender
+ 5 drops frankincense
+ 5 drops tea tree
+ 3 drops copaiba

5. Ultimate Calm

Sometimes we all need a deep breath to keep calm and centre your emotions in the midst of a tough day. This blend contains some of my favourite emotional support oils, for the ultimate calming experience! Whether you need a boost of bravery, or a mini vacation in a bottle – this blend is for you. Valor contains blue tansy, which provides amazing support during difficult or emotional times. Stress away is an uplifting blend of pure essential oils including vanilla, lime, cedarwood and lavender. Frankincense acts as a nervine and calmative which enhances relaxation. Wear it on your wrists and over your heart on days when you need a little extra emotional support.

Ultimate Calm
+ 10 drops valor
+ 10 drops stress away
+ 10 drops frankincense

More essential oils information

Did you know that the quality of essential oils is actually something that is quite important? The vast majority of essential oils on the market are extracted using high heat, high pressure, and chemical solvents. When you purchase a cheap essential oil, you cannot expect to get therapeutic results. These oils are often diluted (with a carrier oil or alcohol) and will contain toxic synthetic chemicals that have been used in their extraction process.

    1. Hi Corie! Good question… You can apply these rollers to your wrists, chest, neck, even the bottoms of your feet. Essential oils absorb well through the bottom of your feet and can enter the bloodstream even faster! 🙂

    1. I use the Young Living Eucalyptus Globulus. A couple drops of Eucalyptus Blue wouldn’t hurt either if you have it, I know if is a key ingredient in the YL Breathe Again roll-on!

  1. I love that even though you’re promoting Young Living, you are giving recipes for blends that can be made from any brand, since you aren’t using premixed blends in your blends. Thank you!

    1. Hi Dana! No worries – yes 10 ml roller bottle, and I usually use fractionated coconut oil. 🙂 Enjoy!

    1. I usually use fractionated coconut oil for all my roller bottle blends. Sweet almond oil is also nice carrier oil and works well!

      1. Hi Jasmine. I was wondering with the Stress away, how many drops do you do for 10 ml bottles. Does 10 sound efficient?

      2. Hi Billi! 10 sounds good – really it is all up to you. There is no correct or incorrect dosage – I add as many as I like, to make it as strong as I want. For myself I might do somewhere closer to 15, but it is all personal preference!

  2. Hello Jasmine,
I am about to make your blend of liquid sleep and I was wondering what the dilution ratio would be for this blend. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

    1. HI Chelsea! I make all of these blends in a 10 ml roller bottle.
      Liquid Sleep:
      2 drops vetiver
      15 drops lavender
      10 drops cedarwood
      5 drops frankincense
Fill to top with fractionated coconut oil or your choice of carrier oil!

  3. Did you change your Liquid Sleep blend? The vetiver & cedarwood drops have changed since I first made this blend.

    1. Hey Lori! You know what – I did. I made that recipe quite a while ago, and I find that you really only need a little bit of vetiver. I find it is more economical this way as well. If you like the old recipe, by all means make it that way. It is always good to get creative with your blends, don’t be afraid to experiment!! 🙂

  4. Hello! I loved this post, thanks so much! My question is, where did you get the cute white storage container with the little drawers? I would love something like that for my oil storage!

    1. Hi Brenda! Yes these essential oils are safe for kids – you may want to dilute them though, depending on their age. For young babies, you only need about 1-2 drops of essential oil in a 10 ml roller bottle. For older kids, 5-10 is great!

    1. Hi Marilyn! I’m sorry, that is a hard one isn’t it. It says Sara; which is one of Young Living’s proprietary blends.

    1. Hi Jennifer. I get them from an etsy shop called Simply Essentials Co, she makes great labels. Or if you just need rollers you can purchase them on amazon!

  5. Hi! Skin soothe is also a roll-on or a splash? Thought rollers could only work filled with oils. If roller, how do you apply as a toner?
    Thanks!

  6. I will definitely be using these blends! Thank you for this post! *also, WHERE do you get those gorgeous rose roller bottles?! 😍💕
